Colorado Buffaloes standout athlete Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy this season over Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty. This came as a surprise to many people, but Hunter played cornerback and wide receiver this season for the Buffaloes.
There is no question that he will be a Top 5 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The only question will be is Travis Hunter going to play wide receiver or cornerback in the NFL? It remains to be seen what he decides to do.
Former NFL Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy Thinks That Colorado Buffaloes Travis Hunter Can Be An Outstanding Wide Receiver In the NFL
On Tuesday, former NFL offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy went onto The Herd with Colin Cowherd on FS1. Bieniemy was talking about the star player from the Buffaloes. Eric Bieniemy said about Hunter at the next level:
“”I think the kid can be an outstanding receiver… You’ve got to pick and choose a side.”
He is not wrong about that because it would be hard for him to play both cornerback and wide receiver in the NFL. Travis Hunter might be better off playing wide receiver in the NFL rather than playing cornerbacks. This season with the Colorado Buffaloes, Hunter caught 92 passes for 1,152 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns, along with averaging 12.5 yards per reception.
He also rushed for five yards on two carries and a score. Travis Hunter also averaged 2.5 yards per carry. A team like the New England Patriots would benefit Hunter in playing wide receiver rather than cornerback because New England needs a number one wide receiver for quarterback Drake Maye.

I agree with EB. My comp for Hunter at WR is Antonio Brown in his prime

Unpopular opinion : this why he’s not a NFL head coach 🤷🏾♂️ don’t draft him if he can’t play both ways

There’s a reason he’s unemployed at the moment… no vision!! Why not try? That’s my question… if you want to limit him on primary run downs go ahead… the thousands of commercial breaks and speed of the game make the pro game much slower

Imagine actually watching this kid play all year and still tryna tell him “he has to pick a side” lmfao
Disappointing asf to see a past Buff try and put a current Buff in a box— DJ MurkCity (@myrksitymma) December 18, 2024
If he’s picked as high as I believe he’s gonna be picked, it will be to play Corner. I’d also have a package of offensive plays for him too.

There are a lot of fans here who are criticizing former NFL offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. Interestingly, some fans think that Travis Hunter can play both cornerback and wide receiver at the next level.
