The Texas Longhorns are 7-1 this season and they have four games left in the regular season. This weekend, they will host the Florida Gators with kickoff scheduled for NOON ET on ABC.

Texas was the fifth-ranked team in the country in the AP Poll before Tuesday’s inaugural 12-team playoff rankings for the college football playoffs. The Longhorns are eyeing bigger things other than just making the postseason.
Texas Longhorns Ranked #5 In the Original College Football Playoff Rankings

In Tuesday’s college football playoff rankings, the Longhorns were also ranked #5 in the rankings. The only teams who were ranked ahead of them were the Miami Hurricanes, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Oregon Ducks.
The Texas Longhorns lost to the Georgia Bulldogs earlier in the season 30-15 at home. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterback Quinn Ewers will need to be on the same page during the final four games of the regular season to try and get to the SEC Championship Game this season.

For the most part, the Longhorns fanbase agrees with where they were ranked in the college football playoffs poll. If they were not to win the SEC Conference, they would most likely get a home playoff game in the first round of the college football playoffs. The goal for them is to get one of the four first-round byes in the new college football playoffs system and they could achieve that goal.
