Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce sent shockwaves through Arrowhead Stadium when he went airborne near the goal line and landed flush on his helmet.

The Chiefs were extremely tough throughout the entire game against the Lions, and so was Kelce. The scary landing was just an example of how tough they were on SNF, but it had fans literally holding their breath.
Rock Ya-Sin caught Kelce in midair and flipped him completely upside down. The 36-year-old crashed helmet-first into the turf. The video available online showed he nearly broke his neck but got lucky at the end.
Surprisingly, no medical personnel were rushed out following the near-eating moment because Kelce popped back up and kept grinding right after.
Travis Kelce Finally Speaks Out About Scary Head Landing That Had Fans Panicking
Kelce typically lowers his shoulder and bulldozes through defenders in the red zone. His physicality has been his trademark for over a decade. But on this play, he tried going over Ya-Sin instead of through him an it was a big mistake.
The defensive back clipped his legs mid-leap. Kelce went full scorpion, landing directly on his dome. The stadium went absolutely silent.
On the New Heights podcast with brother Jason, Travis finally explained what actually happened. “He caught me with a Charlie Horse on my thigh,” Travis clarified. “I got a Charlie Horse more than I got anything going on with my neck.”
Jason couldn’t help but needle his younger brother about the aftermath. “What the f—- were you doing reaching for the pylon afterward?” Jason asked. “Did you think you were not down in the end zone?”
Travis admitted he felt stupid just lying there. “Dn it, Travis!” he told himself on the field. “You’re on the f*g one-yard line; get in the goddn endzone! Stop jumping, man.”
The brotherly roasting didn’t stop there. Jason pointed out Travis had been down for four full seconds before reaching for the pylon. Pure Kelce stubbornness.
Everyone Applauds Travis Kelce’s Toughness
Social media lost its mind when the play happened live. Fans couldn’t believe their eyes that Travis stayed in the game.
“TravisKelce had a great game tonight but sweet Jesus this play had my heart in my throat, this was scary!” one fan wrote. “Great job team, everyone had a positive impact in this win.”
Another questioned the protocol, penning, “How is kelce not being checked for a concussion, he looked spacey after that head plant.”
A third added simply, adding, “Kelce just cracked his cranium on that catch.”
The concerns were valid. “Kelce landed on his head. How is he allowed to stay in the game?” a fourth supporter asked.
Despite the brutal landing, Kelce finished the chaotic match with six catches for 78 yards, surprisingly his best performance of the season. He even blocked on the next play, helping Patrick Mahomes punch in a one-yard touchdown scramble.
