The Cleveland Browns selected running back Quinshon Judkins with the 36th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. That pick was acquired from the Jacksonville Jaguars trade in the 2025 NFL Draft and Judkins played college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett hands the ball off to running back Quinshon Judkins (10) during an NFL practice at the Cleveland Browns training facility on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in Berea, Ohio.

The former Buckeyes running back has yet to sign a rookie contract with the Browns. He is also currently battling legal issues. Cleveland has not had him around in training camp yet. Will he report to camp at all or no? Is there a chance that he even plays for the Browns during the 2025 NFL season?

Cleveland Browns Owner Jimmy Haslam Optimistic That Running Back Quinshon Judkins Will Be With Team In 2025

Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins (10) eyes down a pass during day two of NFL rookie minicamp at the Cleveland Browns training facility on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Berea, Ohio.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam spoke to reporters on Tuesday about the state of the organization. One of the biggest stories about Cleveland this offseason has been the legal issues with Judkins. Haslam was asked about if Judkins will sign a contract with the team and play in the 2025 season. He said to reporters,

“I do, but we all understand due process…but, yes, we’re cautiously optimistic.”

It is interesting that he thinks that Judkins will be able to play for the Browns at some point during the 2025 season, despite some of the legal issues he is currently facing at the moment. If he does play for Cleveland, then Haslam will be happy. If not, then obviously he will be disappointed.

With the potential of Judkins not playing in 2025, this would be a bad look for Cleveland. He had no potential signs of legal issues in college. Maybe it is just something about this Browns organization being cursed or something. Many were banking on Judkins to make an impact as a rookie. For now, Jerome Ford and rookie Dylan Sampson will be the primary running backs.

This is one of the reasons why Browns fans were upset that they didn’t bring back running back Nick Chubb. Chubb signed with the Houston Texans instead in free agency. There are still questions that have to be answered with the legal process for Judkins. Haslam is aware of what is going on with him, but him thinking that Judkins is going to play for the Browns in 2025 is certainly a choice of words.
