A high school football player from California was pronounced dead Wednesday due to an injury that he sustained on the football field two weeks earlier.
The 16-year-old junior varsity player remained unnamed but was a South East High School student in California.
Support for the HS football player was shown

Upon hearing the breaking news that the player injured two weeks ago in a game against Maywood passed away, South East High School principal Eric Jaimes made a statement for the surrounding community.
The unnamed, now-deceased player’s injury resulted in him being taken away by an ambulance as well as a subsequent calling off of the game.
Jaimes’ statement was outlined in an article from Sports Illustrated.
“On behalf of our entire school community, I want to offer my deepest condolences. At this time, we request that the privacy of those who have been impacted be respected during this difficult time. Please know that our entire school community offers our support.
“Every member of the South East High School community matters and this loss impacts us all. Our school has crisis counselors available to any student who may need additional support. Students may also reach out to teachers, counselors or school staff for additional information about available support resources. The death of someone close to us can affect us deeply.”
Many HS football player deaths have occurred this season

Since the start of the 2024 football season around America in late July and early August, there have been a multitude of deaths occurring on the football field or because of something that happened on the football field.
The number of deaths since the beginning of August is now approaching double digits. Many instances involved collapse at hot practices, while others involved dangerous blows to the head during games.
Jayvion Taylor of Hopewell High School in Virginia and Semaj Wilkins of New Brockton High School in Alabama outlined a scary month for football players around the United States. Another Alabama high school football death occurred when Morgan Academy quarterback Caden Tellier passed away in late August due to a head injury.
Concerned fans and parents from all over social media chimed in and let their voices be heard after another tragic passing of a young high school football player.
What is the answer to this? I understand the easy answer, football is not really fit for humans. But that doesn’t seem to resonate with the masses. 11 kids and we are only just past Labor Day, WHY does this not resonate?

My heart breaks for all these children and their families. Our son’s breakdown in 2004 led to many hospitalizations and then in 2010 doctors in Manhattan found many symptoms were related to frontal lobe damage. Ryan began tackle football at age 8.

Wondering about the similarities between American football and this type of entertainment. pic.twitter.com/tewOHGSIER
