The Howard University Bison of the MEAC (0-3) played against the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers (0-2) of the SIAC in Division II. The game was the inaugural HBCU New York Football Classic.
The Bison came off a tough loss to the South Florida Bulls. They were in the unique position of playing in their fourth game of the season. They were also still looking for their first win of the season. The Maroon Tigers were looking for their first win of the season as well. They had a close defeat to West Alabama and a shut-out defeat at the hands of West Georgia.
BISON OFFENSE
The Bison opened the scoring with a field goal by K Aaron Bickerton in the third quarter. The first touchdown was thrown by QB Quinton Williams to WR Antoine Murray of 29 yards to take a 10-point lead. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Bison opened with a touchdown run of two yards by RB Jarrett Hunter. There was also another touchdown pass of 29 yds from QB Quinton Williams to WR Antoine Murray to bring the lead to 24-0.
The Bison finished the scoring with a 51-yard TD run by RB Eden James. The final score was 31-0.
BISON DEFENSE
The leading tackler on the defensive was DB Kedrick Green with seven. DB Xavier Robiou was second with six tackles. DL Jevin Jackson was third with five tackles this game.
It was a close scoreless first half but when Howard started to score their defense held up and kept the Maroon Tigers off the scoreboard.
NEXT OPPONENT
The Howard University Bison (1-3) will travel to New Haven, Conn., to take on the Yale Bulldogs in The Harmony Classic (0-1) on October 1, 2022 at 12:00pm (EST)
