The Michigan Wolverines are still alive for the 2025 Big Ten Championship Game, but they need more than their own win in order to do so. With a loss against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at home in “The Game”, they will automatically be eliminated from the conference championship game. However, with a win they will be in a position to get one of the two spots available.

Below are the situations needed for the Michigan Wolverines to make the Big Ten Championship Game:

  • Defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes; Indiana Hoosiers lose to the Purdue Boilermakers & Oregon Ducks lose to the Washington Huskies
  • Defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes; Purdue Boilermakers defeat the Indiana Hoosiers & Oregon Ducks defeat the Washington Huskies
  • Defeat the Ohio State Buckeyes; Indiana Hoosiers defeat the Purdue Boilermakers & Washington Huskies defeat the Oregon Ducks

In short, winning and having one of the Oregon Ducks/Indiana Hoosiers lose will clinch a spot. With the College Football Playoff rankings currently having the Wolverines out, winning the Big Ten Championship automatically puts them in and gives coach Sherrone Moore an opportunity to win his first title as head coach.
