How Do the Alabama Crimson Tide Make the 2025 SEC Championship Game?

The Alabama Crimson Tide are currently on the outside of the 2025 Southeastern Conference Championship Game picture as they are third in the conference with a 9-2 (6-1) record heading into the final week of the regular season. However, they are not officially eliminated from playing for the SEC title. With a SEC Championship Game victory clinching a spot in the College Football Playoff, let’s take a closer look as to how the Alabama Crimson Tide can punch their ticket into the game on Dec. 6.

What scenarios allow the Alabama Crimson Tide to play in the SEC Championship Game?

The loss two weeks ago to the Oklahoma Sooners made things a bit more difficult for the Alabama Crimson Tide as they no longer are able to clinch a spot in the SEC Championship Game with just a win. As a result of losing against the Sooners, the 10th-ranked Roll Tide would need to win and have either the Texas Longhorns defeat the Texas A&M Aggies in the Lone Star Showdown or have the Mississippi State Bulldogs defeat the Ole Miss Rebels.

If the Alabama Crimson Tide loses the Iron Bowl against the Auburn Tigers, they cannot compete in the SEC Championship Game. That would make a path to the College Football Playoff a bit more difficult. ESPN’s Playoff Predictor has the Crimson Tide at a 61% chance to make the College Football Playoff at this moment, but missing the SEC Championship Game makes things a lot more difficult.

The Roll Tide needing help could be difficult to see happen as both Ole Miss and Texas A&M are also fighting for one of the two SEC Championship Game spots this week as well. It will be intriguing to see how this plays out, but it all starts with Alabama being victorious in the Iron Bowl.
