In an insane week for the NFL, the Las Vegas Raiders were a part of the madness by blowing a 20-point lead and collapsed to the Arizona Cardinals. The Raiders had control of the gamer before they collapsed and lost to the Cardinals. Las Vegas’ defense, and Mcdaniel’s coaching, flaws got exposed for the Cardinals to take the game. Vegas’ offensive playcalling throughout the second half was disappointing, only scoring three in the third quarter. The offense had many chances but blew it in the end. Las Vegas’ defense also fell apart by allowing sixteen points in the fourth quarter. The defense allowed touchdown runs by Darrel Williams and Kyler Murray with two successful two-point conversions. Las Vegas will need to improve after this collapse; if they don’t, there will be potential consequences.
An Easy Las Vegas win?
The Raider’s offense in the game was doing well in their drives in the first half. Las Vegas The team in the first half, while flawed, did well enough to score 20 points over the Cardinals. The Raiders’ defense also held the Cardinals’ “air-raid” offense for most of the game. Las Vegas also had a chance to add to the lead by seven in the second quarter with an interception. The interception later turned into a field goal. Arizona later scored a touchdown in the third quarter, but Las Vegas had the game in control and their first win.
Is a Collapse incoming?
After the third quarter, the Arizona Cardinals’ defense shut down the Raiders’ offense with only a three and out. The Raiders’ defensive secondary also fell apart, with Arizona going through the field and scoring. A game changer was a Kyler Murray pass from the Raiders 25 to Marquise Brown with a pass interference call. After the Cardinals’ touchdown drive, the Raiders responded by failing to waste enough time for the Cardinals to respond. The Cardinals later went down the field again, beating up a tired Raiders defense with a shaky holding call. The flag, a contributing factor to the loss, was also due to the edge rush failing to sack Murray. The touchdown with a two-point conversion tied the game and headed to overtime. Arizona won the coin toss but could not do anything in the drive. Las Vegas later got the ball and doing well until Hunter Renfrow fumbled the ball with the Cardinals receiving it. The game was over with Byron Murphy Jr returning it for a touchdown.
What now for Las Vegas?
Las Vegas Raiders collapsed but had the game under control so they need to improve, or they’ll be consequences. The Raiders need to stay in command to preserve wins after this collapse. The game with a great article from Josh Wiesel also was done with a shaky holding call from the refs. The game also could have been won if the offensive playcalling was a little more consistent by Josh McDaniels. This blown lead was the largest in the Raiders’ history due to the failure of the referees and coaching. The Raiders need to fix these errors because it is panicking time for Sin City in week two.
