The Houston Texans traveled to East Rutherford, New Jersey, to face the New York Jets last night and lost 13-21. One takeaway from last night’s game was that the Texans’ offensive line struggled to protect C.J. Stroud for the entire night. Stroud was pressured on 46.7% of his dropbacks, hit 11 times, and sacked eight times per Next Gen Stats.
Not only did the O-line fail to protect Stroud, their starter couldn’t finish the game.
The Houston Texans LG suffered an injury in the first half

Kenyon Green suffered an apparent shoulder injury in the second quarter after C.J. Stroud was sacked and landed on his arm. Green limped off the field and went directly to the medical tent for further examination. After a short while in the tent, he went to the locker room for X-rays and would miss the rest of the game.
Green finished the night with three pressures, one hurry, a QB hit, a sack, a 9.2 pass blocking, and a 54.9 PFF grade.
It’s not looking good for the former 1st round pick

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Kenyon Green suffered a significant shoulder injury and is out indefinitely. As Rapoport points out, Green will likely miss the rest of the 2024 season. However, there is hope he could make a comeback later in the season if rehab goes well or the Texans make a deep playoff run.
While Kenyon Green is headed for Injury Reserve with his shoulder injury, some clarity: There is, at least, a chance of a late, late return depending on how rehab goes and where the #Texans‘ season stands. So, out indefinitely and possibly for the season. https://t.co/2GBVo2EkKj

Kenyon Green couldn’t get it together in Year 3

Green faced a pivotal third season since the Texans must decide by May whether to exercise or decline his fully guaranteed 5th-year option for the 2026 season. Unfortunately, he couldn’t figure it out in Year 3, surrendering 27 pressures, 18 hurries, four QB hits, five sacks allowed, a 40.9 pass block, a 45.2 run block, and a 39.4 PFF grade. Based on how he was playing this season, the Texans will undoubtedly decline his 5th-year option.
