The Houston Texans released their first unofficial depth chart of the regular season on Monday. An unofficial depth chart lists the starters and backups at each respective position. However, these are not always accurate since they were constructed by the team’s media relations department rather than by the coaching staff and are subject to change.
Although they might not be 100% accurate, they give us an idea about who is leading or has won notable competitions for starting jobs. Here are four interesting takeaways from the Texans’ first unofficial depth chart.

1. The Houston Texans may have found their starting left tackle of the future

Aireontae Ersery competed against Cam Robinson for the starting left tackle job. The veteran took the early lead to open training camp, but a lower-leg injury sustained at the beginning of August opened the door for the rookie second-rounder. Since then, Ersery has impressed the coaching staff, receiving first-team reps to close camp, and even sat out in the Texans’ final preseason game, indicating he won the job, while the front office continues to look to trade Robinson.
2. The Houston Texans have a new starting center

The Texans claimed Jake Andrews off waivers from the Patriots in April, not initially expecting him to compete for the starting center job against incumbent Jarrett Patterson. Both players split first-team reps to start training camp, but the newcomer eventually received the majority of the reps and started in the first two preseason games. Similar to Ersery, Andrews also sat out in the final preseason game, and he is tasked with leading and communicating with the offensive line and snapping the ball to C.J. Stroud.
3. The Houston Texans have a new starting right guard

The Texans acquired Ed Ingram from the Vikings in March, hoping to revive his career. Tytus Howard initially began training camp as the starting right guard but eventually moved back to right tackle, his natural position. Since then, Ingram has impressed at right guard, starting the first two preseason games, and, like the other starters, sat out the final preseason game.
4. The Houston Texans’ 4th-round pick a fourth-stringer?

The Texans drafted Woody Marks 116th overall in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to complement Joe Mixon. The Mississippi State and USC product had an impressive training camp and rushed for 63 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown across three preseason games. However, despite Marks’ explosiveness and athleticism, he is currently listed as the team’s No. 4 running back, behind Nick Chubb, Dameon Pierce, and Dare Ogunbowale, with Mixon sidelined.
