Michigan Wolverines Could Dominate in 2024
Looking forward to the 2024 college football season, Michigan is coming off a perfect season. Now, Michigan has to find a new quarterback, replace tons of new players, and welcome a new head coach. The Wolverines have a five-man quarterback battle between Jadyn Davis, Alex Orji, Jayden Denagal, Jack Tuttle, and Davis Warren.
After losing J.J. McCarthy, the starting quarterback position has a three-man quarterback battle that Sherrone Moore will have to figure out. Tuttle is the oldest with the most experience. Orji’s the most athletic, and Warren has the best command of the offense.
The Wolverines lose Blake Corum to the NFL but NCAA 25 cover athlete, Donovan Edwards, returns. Edwards’ backup will be Kalel Mullings, Ben Hall, and true freshman Jordan Marshall
The defense looks great but the offense could use some work. The offensive line will have many new moving pieces, though solid at the tight end and running back positions. Fans will have to wait to see who will be the top wide receivers, who will start at quarterback, and how the new offensive line will mesh together.
The Wolverine’s 2024 recruiting class finished at number 19 in the country which was headlined by offensive tackle Andrew Sprog, corner Josiah Edmund from Indiana, and Jadyn Davis.
Michigan’s transfer portal class was ranked number 58th in the country. Having nine total: Wesley Walker a safety from Louisville, Jaden Mangham a safety from Michigan State, Ricky Johnson a corner from UNLV, Aamir Hall a corner from Albany, Amarion Walker a wide receiver from Old Miss, CJ Charleston a receiver from Youngstown, Dominic Zvada, Jaishawn Barham a linebacker from Maryland and Josh Priebe an offensive lineman from Northwestern.
Michigan Wolverines Season Predictions
The Wolverines face off against Fresno State in Week 1, and Michigan likely wins easily before one of the biggest games of the year. Texas will come to Ann Arbor and they’re looking to win a National Championship this season. Texas is an elite program and Michigan likely will still be figuring out their quarterback situation. It’s easy to see Texas coming in and getting the job done in Ann Arbor.
Next, the Wolverines should easily beat Arkansas State in Week 3. Week 4 is against USC and Michigan should also win that game. USC has a lot to figure out in a short amount of time while also breaking in a new quarterback in Miller Moss.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers also have their hands tied. Michigan wins by two or more touchdowns after that they go on the road to play Washington.
The Huskies lost much of everything. Jedd Fisch has proven that he’s one of the top upcoming coaches, and with this game being on the road and a rematch of last year’s National Championship game, it could be closer. The Wolverines then go on the road to dominate Illinois.
In the Wolverines’ last five games of the season, they’ll just have two major tests.
First, Michigan comes home and plays Michigan State under head coach Jonathan Smith, and like Jedd Fisch, he’s one of the new upcoming coaches in college football. There’s too much for Michigan State to figure out, and not much talent on the roster. This game is in at the Big House so Michigan wins pretty easily.
Then there’s Oregon, and this is going to be a thriller of a game. Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines beat the Ducks and Michigan ends up with momentum into Columbus. Michigan wins and will beat Northwestern too pretty easily before the monumental face-off with Ohio State.
There’s no way the Wolverines beat Ohio State for a fourth straight year. This game will to be in Columbus and Ohio State has spent millions on NIL and they brought back much everybody and they are that good this year. Ohio State wins this game, breaking a three-year streak.
The Wolverines will end up 10-2, with losses to Texas and Ohio State but a huge victory over Oregon. Michigan should end up squeaking into the college football playoffs with strength of schedule and a 10-2 record. With that strength of schedule, Michigan has a really good year and Sherrone Moore has a ton of momentum going into 2025.
