Malik Muhammad will play college football an hour from his hometown, committing to the University of Texas. The four-star cornerback picked the Longhorns over numerous schools, like Texas A&M, Georgia, and Alabama.
Muhammad paid an official visit a month before his decision. He becomes the eighth defensive recruit to join Steve Sarkisian’s program.
Special teams coordinator Jeff Banks was the primary recruiter for Muhammad. Cornerbacks coach Trey Joseph assisted Banks in the recruiting process.
“I’m the best player in the nation. Texas’ coaches told me I could be the alpha male on the defensive side and they think I can bring a lot of recruits to the team. So that’s a big decision for me. I’ve been winning in Texas my whole life. So that was the biggest part.”
