When the New York Giants announced Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback for the Week 1 matchup against the Washington Commanders, there would be no debate about who the starting quarterback would be for the 2025 NFL season. Wilson played for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2024 season and signed as a free agent with the Giants in the offseason.

A lot of people are hoping for Wilson to be better than what Daniel Jones and other quarterbacks have provided over the years for the Giants after Eli Manning retired. One player who could potentially benefit from Wilson being the starter in 2025 is wide receiver Malik Nabers. Wilson and Nabers appear to have chemistry already clicking in training camp.
New York Giants Fans Thrilled With Viral Russell Wilson Touchdown Pass To Malik Nabers In Training Camp

One of the things that has felt missing from the Giants offense in the last several years has been connecting on deep passes for touchdowns. Well during Friday’s training camp session, Wilson threw a deep touchdown pass in stride to Nabers.

Well, could this be a potential preview of New York putting more points on the board during the 2025 NFL season? The Giants offense has been abysmal over the last couple of seasons. They are hoping for a lot of fireworks in the end zone during the 2025 NFL season. This how Giants fans responded to the touchdown pass from Wilson to Nabers in camp:
Hits him in stride. I can shed a tear forreal……

I don’t think a giants qb has hit a deep ball since 2016

Wilson during the 2024 season with Pittsburgh completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 155 yards on 43 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 3.6 yards per carry. Wilson didn’t have a number one wide receiver like he will with Nabers this season.
George Pickens was a good player, but Nabers is on another level. The Giants second-year wide receiver caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards receiving and seven touchdowns, along with averaging 11.0 yards per reception. Nabers was targeted 170 times. He was fifth in receptions and seventh in receiving yards despite having bad quarterback play during the 2024 NFL season.
If Wilson and Nabers can connect early and often in 2025, is there a chance that Nabers could have over 1,500 yards receiving in just his second season? Time will tell, but Giants fans are already excited for the potential deep ball connection between Wilson and Nabers.
