Florida Gators head football coach Billy Napier is looking forward to watching the Final Four on Saturday when the Gators take on the SEC rivals, the Auburn Tigers with tip-off scheduled for 6:09 p.m. ET on CBS. Napier has been watching Florida’s basketball program closely with the way they have played in the NCAA Tournament.

Florda Gators Head Football Coach Billy Napier Praises Walter Clayton Jr. Ahead of the Final Four

The Gators head coach praises his star players like quarterback D.J. Lagway when he plays well. Well, Florida’s Napier was asked about Clayton ahead of the Final Four. He said,
“”I appreciate his poise as a competitor…It’s one thing to be a productive player, score a bunch, it’s another thing to make those shots when it counts.”

Clayton hit clutch shots against the UCONN Huskies in the Round of 32 and against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the Elite 8. For the 2024-2025 season for the Gators, Clayton is averaging 18.1 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 4.2 APG, and shooting 44.6% from the field. It is going to be interesting to see if Florida wins it all for the first time since the 2006-2007 season against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
That was also the last time that Florida won it all in football against Ohio State. Maybe this Final Four run will inspire Napier to have a better 2025 college football season and maybe get a chance to crack the college football playoffs field also.
