As the 2022-23 NFL season slowly creeps up, everyone has been highlighting Thursday Night games they can’t wait to get their popcorn ready for. There are eleven total prime time games which will be streamed on Amazons Prime Video. Here are the breakdowns for each game this upcoming season.
Sept. 15 Los Angeles Chargers vs Kansas City Chiefs
This is probably the best two teams to showcase during the TNF debut. The Chargers revamped their defense and kept their electrifying offense intact. Justin Herbert is ready to catch the alley-oop and dunk his team into the playoffs! However, Patrick Mahomes and Co. are no slouches. Tyreek Hill was undoubtedly the most explosive player on the team last year but now they must thrive without him. After an offensive reboot, the Chiefs still have one of the greatest minds in football, Andy Reid. The head coach will absolutely have some tricks up his sleeve. The battle for the division starts early!
Prediction: Chargers 38- Chiefs 31
Sept. 22 Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns
Both teams have question marks at quarterback. The Steelers signed Mitch Trubisky on a 2-year deal this off season. However, that didn’t stop the organization from drafting Heisman Finalist Kenny Pickett in the first round. The Browns figure to have their man in Deshaun Watson by dumping 230 mil on Watson’s doorstep for a groundbreaking 5 year deal. As good as that sounds, Watson is speculated to still endure questions on if he will play this season after dealing with legal issues. Nonetheless, both organizations possess solid rosters ready to compete now.
Prediction (if Watson plays): Browns 13-Steelers 10
Sept. 29 Miami Dolphins vs Cincinnati Bengals
The Dolphins are arguably the biggest winners of the off season adding Tyreek Hill to the mix. It’s a shame Chiefs couldn’t keep him but quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is not complaining. Will it be enough to defeat Joe Burrows and his Super Bowl experienced squad? Only time will tell if either team can remain healthy to keep this matchup less predictable. Most fans are intrigued to see if Tua really has what it takes to lead his team victoriously especially in big games. The Bengals didn’t get worse which is also a positive after infamous Super Bowl appearance.
Prediction: Dolphins 25- Bengals 28
Oct. 6 Indianapolis Colts vs Denver Broncos
The game of old faces in new places. Veteran quarterbacks Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson will now suit up in different colors for the first time in their careers. This throw down will be all about whose running game will be most effective. One can only imagine how much sleep each respective defensive coordinator will get the night before this Thursday Night game. Keep in mind that, Ryan and Wilson have shown throughout their prestigious careers how well they command an offense and utilize every weapon in their arsenal. On October 6th, this will be must see T.V.
Prediction: Colts 24- Broncos 17
Oct. 13 Washington Commanders vs Chicago Bears
To be honest, I was shocked to see these two teams get a Thursday Night Game…together. Now I’m not insinuating a snooze fest, but these teams have a lot to prove. Can Carson Wentz stay healthy for the Commanders? Will Curtis Samuel drop his injury prone label as well? Did the Bears organization do enough to build around Justin Fields? These are the questions that should be answered by the time they square off. Commanders fans are begging for a winning season while “Da Bears” just want to see Fields tear it up!
Prediction: Commanders 24- Bears 22
Oct. 20 New Orleans Saints vs Arizona Cardinals
Two more teams that has more question marks than answers. The Saints have given the keys to Jamies Winston to lead them to the playoffs this season. Despite his trendy workouts, Jamies has a spectacular supporting cast in superstar Alvin Kamara, recovering star Michael Thomas, and now veteran Jarvis Landry. Arizona is alleged to be in talks with Kyler Murray after an off season of cat and mouse for a contract extension. Superstar wideout Deandre Hopkins will be out for a chunk of the season. The Cards brought in “Hollywood” Brown and resigned running back James Conner. This game will go down to the wire!
Prediction: Saints 34- Cards 28
Oct. 27 Baltimore Ravens vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Ravens Thursday night game against the Bucs has to be on everyone’s to watch list. Tom Brady is BACK..barely! Lamar Jackson is a former unanimous MVP! The Bucs Defense is solid this season and the Ravens have revamped their D with key off-season signings. Tom has his weapons in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Leonard Fournette. Jackson is a weapon in his own right but also possess Mark Andrews and sophomore receiver Rashod Bateman. This will probably be the last time we see these two QB’s face-off! Team health will be a major factor going into this game.
Prediction: Bucs 35 – Ravens 36
Nov. 3 Philadelphia Eagles vs Houston Texans
A better match up would have been the Eagles verses the Lions instead of a team that’s in borderline rebuild mode. Nonetheless, this is a must win for not only the Eagles organization but for Jalen Hurts. To be honest, this smells like a set up for Hurts to win on a big stage, quieting his critics. The Texans have promise after a good draft haul, re-signing Brandon Cooks, and second year Quarterback Davis Mills played well last season. Excited to see A.J brown and Devonta Smith show what they can do as a promising wide receiver duo. The Eagles are favored here on paper.
Prediction: Eagles 27- Texans 21
Nov. 10 Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers
I like this Thursday Night Game due to the off season storylines that has surrounded both organizations. Atlanta traded away their main man after fourteen seasons of service in Matt Ryan. Meanwhile, the Panthers traded in for former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. On the roster, you’ll see both teams are fairly matched when it comes to talent. Offensive Coordinator Ben Mcadoo will look to get Baker ready for his pass heavy offense. A scheme we have yet to see Mayfield in so far in his young but unstable NFL career.
Prediction: Falcons 14 – Panthers 24
Nov. 17 Tennessee Titans vs Green Bay Packers
Talk about two teams with quarterbacks losing important assets at the wide receiver position. Packers Aaron Rodgers will have to hit the reset button again without Devante Adams while Ryan Tannehill will take field without A.J Brown this season after a suspected draft day trade. Big games such as these are all about their storylines. I can hear the commentators now conversing on how each team will have to overcompensate for their missing links. History reveals that chances are Rodgers build a rapport with his new receiving core at a greater pace than Tannehill leading up to this game. Keep in mind that both teams uphold strong running games that will also be an impactful factor.
Prediction: Titans 13 – Packers 20
Nov. 24 Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots
Another great Thursday night matchup! Josh Allen and the Bills are basically Super Bowl or bust headed into the 2022-23 season. The Patriots looks to regain dominance in a tough division under second year QB Mac Jones. On paper, each team possess obvious strengths and very little weaknesses. The victor of this throw down will come solely through the defense that can get the most turnovers. Any offense put in better field positions usually claim victory. As much as we expect the Bills to win, we’ve all learned to never underestimate the Patriots, Hall of Fame bound Head Coach, Bill Belichick.
Prediction: Bills 23- Patriots 24
Dec. 1 Las Vegas Raiders vs LA Rams
Put a BIG circle around the Raiders, Rams Thursday Night game because we could very well see this combination again in the playoffs. The Raiders has put all their chips on the table by signing the best receiver in football right now, they have also bolstered their defense, and just recently broke barriers within their front office. Sean Mcvay and Co. have other plans in order to repeat as defending Super Bowl Champions. This off season they brought in highly underrated Allen Robinson to team up with triple crown king Cooper Kupp. Not to mention, former Seahawks, Bobby Wagner signed with the Rams already scary defense. Shout out to the NFL schedulers for nailing it so far!
Prediction: Raiders 27 – Rams 31
Dec. 8 San Fransisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks
Lets be honest, the Seahawks didn’t dominate the 49ers even with Russell Wilson on the roster. It’s hard to speculate if newly signed quarterback Drew Lock will be the answer. Receivers D.K Metcalf and T.J. Lockett are still strengths in the Seattle offense along with second round draft pick Kenny Walker. The 49ers, however, are locked and loaded with Trey Lance primed to take over as the face of the organization. Will Deebo Samuel be traded or extended by the time this game unfolds? We’ll find out on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z!
Prediction: 49ers 21 – Seahawks 14
Dec. 15 Jacksonville Jaguars vs New York Jets
The Jags are looking like the dark horse to truly make a near playoff run this upcoming season. By hiring a new head coach in Doug Pederson will provide much needed stability and order that lacked during Trevor Lawrence rookie season. The Jets drafted well, filled holes in free agency, but lately their young QB is a mixed bag in the media these days. Zach Wilson has to put it all out on the field after a rocky rookie season. Trevor Lawrence also has new weapons in Christian Kirk and he’s getting his buddy back in Travis Etienne too.
Prediction: Jags 32- Jets 31
Dec. 22 Dallas Cowboys vs Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans get two Thursday Night football games this season against some serious competition. This week it will be against the Dallas Cowboys who will probably be itching their way into the playoffs at this point of the season. Hypothetically, the Titans team could possibly be licking their chops for a relevant season surrounded by rumors of tanking for a higher draft status in next years draft. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys will be without Amari Cooper but that won’t stop them from their Super Bowl goals. Watch out for Cee Dee Lamb to dominate in this game, fantasy owners!
Prediction: 42- 28
Time To Plan Ahead!
These Thursday Night Games are red hot! The NFL schedulers did not disappoint either. Each game has eye popping storylines that will having fans drooling at their television screens. Too many old faces in new places to count with an influx of new talent, thanks to the 2022 NFL draft. Can the season start already?
