The New York Giants drafted quarterback Jaxson Dart 25th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft from the Ole Miss Rebels. The Giants traded from up from the 34th pick to the 25th pick with the Houston Texans to select him.

New York for now doesn’t have plans for Dart to be the starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season. He is projected to be the third quarterback on the depth chart. Jameis Winston is penciled into be the backup quarterback and Russell Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll gave a positive update about Dart has been progressing.
New York Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll Praises Jaxson Dart With the Way He Has Progressed During the Offseason

The Giants head coach spoke to the media about how “excellent” Dart has been in the Giants Spring program. They have done OTAs and mandatory minicamp already and New York will start training camp next month. Daboll said,
“He’s smart, he’s aggressive with the football – which I like…he’s progressed since he’s been here.”
It is good to see that Daboll is happy with the way Dart has been progressing. He wants to take his time with his development and try and not to rush him into the fire for the 2025 NFL season. General manager Joe Schoen and Daboll hope that Dart will be the long-term answer for this franchise. There is no doubt that Dart will be a story for New York during training camp despite Wilson being the starting quarterback.
New York fans will want to see how much Dart will progress things. A lot of people will want to see him at one point throw passes to wide receiver Malik Nabers as well.
