It is a new era with the Chicago Bears. Training camp practice opened up on Wednesday for Chicago under new head coach Ben Johnson.

With Johnson coming over from the Detroit Lions, he is going to be doing things his own way and he is a tremendous offensive mind. He was the offensive coordinator for Detroit before taking Chicago’s job. Johnson is looking to fix quarterback Caleb Williams entering the 2025 season. There were some problems with the first team offense on Wednesday during training camp and tight end Cole Kmet commented on the matter.
Chicago Bears Tight End Cole Kmet Comments On Ben Johnson Yanking the First-Team Offense During Practice on Wednesday

After practice occurred on Wednesday, Kmet spoke to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic about the Bears issues during the first-team reps. Johnson pulled the starters off the field for a moment. The Bears tight end said,
“I think that’s on par for how Ben is.”
Johnson had to yell at Williams several times to huddle up in the offense. This got Johnson frustrated even more and then the starters were pulled again for the second-team offense. Kmet also added about what Chicago’s head coach did during Wednesday’s practice,
“If you’re not doing it right, he’s gonna get you out and he’s not going to (let) that stuff continue. It’s just a lesson to us that you got to be on the details. We got to be on the details going into practice and we’re going to get our reps in.”
Johnson wants this football team to get the little things right. It is going to be interesting to see if the struggles will continue with the first-team offense between Williams and the Bears head coach as training camp moves on. Chicago finished with a 5-12 record during the 2024 NFL season. This football team has a lot of talent on the offensive side of the football.
If they don’t get things done right during practice, there is a chance that it could linger into the 2025 NFL season. Chicago is one of the teams that needs to show massive improvement during the 2025 season. If Williams does not have a good year, things could be very interesting with him and Johnson as the year goes on and it won’t be a good look.
