The Florida Gators could have some potential concerns with quarterback DJ Lagway before the 2025 season begins. It was reported that he is in a boot with a lower-leg injury.

With him having this injury, this could cause some problems for Florida during training camp. Lagway is entering his sophomore season, and he could be a breakout star for this program if he is healthy. If not, major trouble could arise.
Florida Gators Head Coach Billy Napier Provides Positive Injury Update On Quarterback DJ Lagway

Gators head coach Billy Napier spoke to the media on Tuesday about Lagway’s leg injury. Napier said,
“He’s day-to-day. The good thing, I think we are a week removed (from the injury). “In general, he’s made a lot of quick progress, but it will be something we are monitoring.”
It will be interesting to see how many reps he is going to get during training camp with Florida. If Lagway has to miss time during camp with this injury, this will not be good news for the Gators. A lot of this season rides on his health. He is 6’3″ and weighs 239 lbs.
During the 2024 season, Lagway completed 59.9% of his passes for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He will need to be much better and sharper this season. However, if Lagway misses key reps during training camp, there is a chance that he could show some signs of rust during game action during the 2025 college football season.
Harrison Bailey is projected to be the backup quarterback for Florida, and he was with the Louisville Cardinals in 2024. Bailey playing in more games than Lagway in 2024 could cost Napier his job potentially and they need to bubble wrap the sophomore quarterback until Week 1 of the 2025 college football season.
