“He’ll Get Off Scot-Free Because He’s Famous”: NFL Fans Get Real After Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Arrested Before Super Bowl

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is likely having the worst time of his career. First, the Chiefs got eliminated early from the 2025 season after a disappointing 6-11 record. Pat, then, had to go through surgery for his torn ACL and LCL in his left knee and is still rehabbing from his injury.

Now, to rub salt in the damaged frame, his father was arrested Tuesday morning and booked into Smith County Jail in Texas, charged with violating his probation by allegedly consuming alcohol.

All the narratives gave fans so many topics to type, but some think there is no value in such arrests of big people.

The 55-year-old former MLB pitcher’s arrest marks exactly two years since Mahomes Sr.’s February 2024 DWI bust. Coincidentally, that event also came days before the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

This latest incident, however, happened after a SCRAM alcohol ankle monitor detected a high alcohol reading from Pat’s father, according to TMZ Sports. Mahomes Sr. was booked at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, according to Smith County jail records.

It was reportedly his sixth DWI-related incident in Smith County since 2012. His most recent conviction came after a February 2024 traffic stop where officers found an open beer can in his console. He pleaded guilty to DWI in September 2024 and was sentenced to five years of probation with intense supervision, community service, and Alcoholics Anonymous classes.

Mahomes Sr. had been sober for six months at the time of his sentencing. He addressed the embarrassment during an episode of ESPN’s original series Chiefs Kingdom, saying, “For him to have to answer questions about me was probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever been through.”

After that, the Chiefs’ signal-caller said that when the other person realizes their actions caused him pain, they should stop and think so that they can’t keep repeating the same mistakes.

Now, less than six months later, his father is back behind bars again ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl spectacle.

Fans roast Patrick Mahomes Sr. after third DWI incident

The arrest has dominated social media heading into Super Bowl 60, with fans going nuclear on the former pitcher who spent 11 seasons in MLB.

One fan wrote, “I’m starting to think he gets arrested for fun.”

Another one added, “Anyone with 3 DUIs should spend the rest of their life in prison.”

A third one penned, “For the average person that would be jail time. But since he’s famous he’ll get off scot-free.”

A fourth one shared, “Patrick should buy him a bicycle.”

A random X user remarked, “This is becoming a Super Bowl week tradition.”

For Patrick Mahomes, the arrest is an unwanted distraction right now. He’s at home recovering, and he’ll probably have to answer questions about his dad’s latest arrest while everyone is busy in celebrating weeklong festivities for the big game that kicked off Monday.
