There are a lot of NFL fans who are tired of the Kansas City Chiefs and quarterback Patrick Mahomes getting to the Super Bowl. Mahomes has reached the Super Bowl in the last five of six seasons in the AFC and the only other team to do so is Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mahomes has also won several MVPs in his NFL career. During the 2024 NFL season, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen finally won his first MVP award over Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. Some people think that Allen and Jackson are better quarterbacks than Mahomes, but some analysts think that the Chiefs star quarterback is better until someone else dethrones him in the AFC.
Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Ranked Number One Player Entering 2025 NFL Season By CBS Sports

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports listed his Top 100 players in the NFL entering the 2025 NFL season. To no surprise, he decided to have Mahomes number one ranked on his list. Prisco also had Mahomes as the number one ranked NFL player last year as well. He said,
“His numbers have not been as gaudy the past few seasons, but he is still the best in the league. With an improved offensive line, and better receivers, his numbers will go up this year.”
Mahomes finished the 2024 NFL season with completing 67.5% of his passes for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He was ranked seventh in the NFL last season in passing yards and he was ranked ninth in the NFL in passing touchdowns. Mahomes is only 29 years old, and he still has a lot left in the tank.
His dominance in the AFC is one of the reasons why he is still the number one NFL player entering the 2025 NFL season despite Allen and Jackson winning MVP over the last two seasons. At some point, Mahomes will not be the king in the AFC. But for now, he is the top player in the NFL no matter the circumstances he faces with head coach Andy Reid.
