It will be a very critical 2025 college football season for the LSU Tigers. After missing the playoffs in 2024, they are destined to get there during the 2025 season.

One of the reasons why LSU can get to the playoffs is because quarterback Garrett Nussmeier returns to the team. He has a chance to be a Top 10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft depending on how his 2025 season goes. Nussmeier is one of several quarterbacks who could potentially be drafted in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. What kind of year is he going to have for the Tigers?
College Football Analyst Makes Bold Prediction About LSU Tigers Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier Entering 2025 College Football Season

With SEC media day taking place on Monday, many coaches spoke to the media. However, Jordan Rodgers, who covers college football for ESPN was live at SEC media day. He spoke about the LSU starting quarterback and what he thinks about him entering the 2025 season.
Rodgers made a bold prediction for Nussmeier entering the 2025 season and said,
“I think he can be the best quarterback in the entire nation.”
This is an interesting prediction. During the 2024 season with LSU, he completed 64.2% of his passes for 4,052 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. With Nussmeier being projected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft, there is a chance that he could be the best quarterback in the country.
However, there will be some other interesting names to watch out for like Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning, Clemson Tigers quarterback Cade Klubnik, Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar, Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza, and South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNoris Sellers. If Nussmeier is the best quarterback out of all of them, it means that LSU is at least in the playoffs and it would be a shock if they didn’t because of his play.
The SEC Conference has a lot of talented quarterbacks. Nussmeier could be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2025. Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow were other quarterbacks who won the Heisman Trophy in the past for this football program.
