Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie contract with the franchise. This offseason, the Cleveland Browns signed Myles Garrett to a contract extension and the Pittsburgh Steelers signed T.J. Watt to a contract extension as well.

With this being the case, Parsons will probably want somewhere between $40-$45 million per season with Dallas. However, there are some alarming updates on his potential contract extension talks with the Cowboys. Could this cause him to miss some of the 2025 season or will he play in 2025 and just walk in free agency after the season ends? These are all questions that will have to be answered.
NFL Insider Reveals Alarming Update On Contract Talks Between the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons

Many are wondering when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is going to give Parsons a contract extension, but some may feel like this may not be happening anytime soon. Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb commented on what has been going on between Jones and Parsons this offseason. Also, ESPN’s Adam Schefter was on the Pat McAfee show on Monday afternoon to talk about the latest between Dallas and Parsons.
It was not so positive news about the two parties and Schefter said,
“The Cowboys haven’t talked about a deal with Micah Parsons since probably early April.. Everybody thinks at some point this deal will get done but it’s slow going so far.”
It is almost August, and they haven’t talked since April? This very concerning before the 2025 season begins. It appears as if Parsons may have to start the 2025 season without a new contract. That could be concerning for him and the Cowboys as well. Dallas has quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Lamb on long-term contracts already. Could that potentially cost them Parsons in the long run?
It remains to be seen if it will or not. During the 2024 season with Dallas, he recorded 43 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. Parsons is 26 years old. He is just entering the prime of his NFL career. If Dallas can’t afford to pay Parsons what he wants, then they would be better trading him away to a contender rather than letting him walk away for nothing.
