Has anyone seen Lewis Cine? The Eden Prairie Minnesota Police Department has put out an all-points bulletin for the missing Minnesota Vikings first-round draft pick. He purportedly has not been seen in Purpleland since the initial press conference introducing him to Vikings Nation.
You remember Lewis Cine. He was the all-everything safety from Georgia who the Vikings traded down to get at pick number 32 in the NFL Draft. He is the player who was going to make everyone forget about Harrison Smith. No, he was the player that was going to play alongside Smith to form the top safety combo in the NFL.
Lewis Cine is Missing
No, wait! He was going to be a key part of the Vikings high powered safety triumvirate with “Hitman Smith” and Cam Bynum that was going to revolutionize how pass defense is played in the league. Wait! Or never mind. The Minnesota Vikings would just like to see his safe return to the team’s practice facility.
There have been rumored sightings of Lewis Cine. Oh yes. Someone said they spotted him at the team’s rookie mini-camp in May. And yet another source had him working out with the team during training camp. Was he spotted in the team’s preseason games? There are nefarious rumors circulating that someone with his jersey number was spotted in uniform at all three of those games.
Harrison Smith Out With a Concussion
But the biggest rumor that the police and the Vikings are trying to track down is that someone resembling him supposedly played in 15 special teams’ plays in their win over the Lions last Sunday. I say balderdash! I say poppycock! Rumors, lies, and innuendos!
For if Lewis Cine had really been in uniform last Sunday, surely he would have started in place of the concussed Smith. But instead, the Vikings trotted out Josh Metellus to play alongside Bynum. Josh Metellus? The special teams wonder? Yes, it’s true, and to his credit, he played an awesome game. He was in on 11 tackles, and he intercepted a pass from Lions’ quarterback Jared Goff to seal the win.
Andrew Booth Jr. is Also Missing
And to make matters worse, someone impersonating Lewis Cine photoshopped a picture of him seated in front of his U.S. Bank game locker with a glum look on his face with a caption that read: “Time Will Tell.” Surely this is the work of someone out to besmirch Lewis Cine’s good name.
So, if anyone sees Lewis Cine, tell him to report to Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell immediately. The team would like their top draft choice back in the fold. Oh! And by the way, has anyone seen Andrew Booth Jr.? The Vikings’ “steal of the draft” has also been AWOL. Come back Andrew. We miss you!
