A sad day for the NFL. Hall of Fame Running Back Jim Brown died at 87 years old Friday. Jim Brown’s wife Monique announced the devasting news on Instagram.
Monique said, “Brown passed peacefully on Thursday night. Brown died at his home in Los Angeles, California.

Brown was one of the greatest football players in NFL history. Brown won the NFL MVP three times during his career. Brown also won a Super Bowl in 1964.
Brown’s career was wonderful and fantastic. Brown led the NFL in rushing eight times and led the NFL in rushing touchdowns five times.
Brown was an eight-time First-Team All-Pro, was named the NFL 100-All-time team and was inducted into the 1971 Hall of Fame class. Brown never missed a game in his career.
Brown recorded 14,811 scrimmage yards during his career. Additionally, Brown scored 126 total touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns.
Brown shined off the field. Brown worked during the Civil Rights Movement. Brown helped create an organization for top Black athletes. Brown’s organization was named the Cleveland Summit. Brown helped curb gang violence in Los Angeles in 1988.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell commented on Brown’s passing. Goodell said, ” Brown was a gifted athlete who “became a forerunner and role model for athletes being involved in social initiatives outside their sports.”
