After a tough 24-19 win over the Los Angeles Rams where the Green Bay Packers did not play well, they next turn their attention to the Arizona Cardinals. They are conning off a shocking 24-23 win over the San Francisco 49ers. What was looked like as one of the worst teams in the NFL heading into this year, the Cardinals come into Lambeau Field with a 2-3 record. Kickoff is noon CST on FOX. Here is an early look at Arizona.
Another Dual Threat Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers Defense
The Green Bay Packers defense have faced some good running quarterbacks already this season. They have seen Jalen Hurts and Anthony Richardson. However, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is likely the best running quarterback in the game. While he is small, he is great with his feet and his ability to escape the pocket.
Murray is not afraid to run when he sees an opening. He is currently averaging 49 yards a game rushing. This will be another big test for the Green Bay Packers defense as they have to find a way to get to Murray while keeping him in the pocket as long as they can.
A Competitive Road Team
This will be the third road game for the Cardinals. In their previous two, they took the Buffalo Bills, a very good home team, to the final seconds and lost 34-28. Then they beat the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara last week 24-23. Lambeau Field is a tough place to play for any opponent, but I don’t think this Arizona Cardinals team is afraid to come into Green Bay Sunday.
Despite a young and talented Cardinals roster, I think the Green Bay Packers are still the better team in this game. For a team that has struggled over the last handful of years, they have put together some solid draft classes and look to be closer to competing.
The Cardinals Can be an Explosive Offense
Kyler Murray can be a pain for opposing defenses alone. James Connor sitll runs well and is the bell cow back at age 29. Then there are the receiving weapons headlines by rookie Marvin Harrison Jr, who was taken fourth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. It’s been a little bit of a slow start for him, but he now has 279 yards and four touchdowns on 17 receptions. Michael Wilson and Trey McBride all are approaching 200 yards receiving as well and are becoming solid target options for Murray.
Harrison Jr will be the focus for the Green Bay Packers secondary, but I think McBride and Connor will present challenges as well. This is will be a closer game than Packers fans might want to believe Sunday.
