The Green Bay Packers defeated the Tennessee Titans in convincing fashion on Sunday afternoon by the score of 30-14. Jordan Love sat out for the second consecutive week, meaning that Malik Willis got the start against his former team.
Despite being without their starting quarterback for the second-straight game, the Packers were in control from the moment they received the opening kickoff. All three phases of the game complimented each other beautifully, making the task of choosing three stud performances exceptionally difficult.
Green Bay Packers Stud #1- Quarterback Malik Willis
Willis, of course, earned a spot on the stud list after winning his second game in relief of Love. When Green Bay’s franchise quarterback went down with his injury, many thought that the Packers would struggle to win without him.
After completing 12 of 14 passes for 122 yards, a touchdown, no interceptions, and a 126.8 passer rating against the Colts last week, Willis elevate his game even more against his former team.
The Packers backup quarterback finished his day with 202 passing yards (13/19 on his throws), a touchdown, no interceptions, and a 120.9 passer rating. He also led Green Bay with 73 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.
Green Bay Packers Stud #2- Running Back Emanuel Wilson
Green Bay’s second-leading rusher on the day was backup running back Emanuel Wilson, who put together the best game of his young career. He had 12 carries for 50 yards and two receptions for 35 yards. One of these catches was a 30-yard touchdown on a perfectly executed screen pass.
It was his first career NFL touchdown.
Wilson, of course, was named Green Bay’s backup running back after AJ Dillon was placed on season-ending injured reserve when the 53-man roster came out. He was the Packers’ third string running back in 2023 after leading the NFL in rushing yards during the preseason.
Wilson had 44 rushing yards all year last season.
Green Bay Packers Stud #3- The Packers Defense
There were simply too many great performances from multiple members of the Packers’ defense for there to be just one or two represented here. Therefore, the entire unit gets the shoutout.
Among the great performances were the following:
- Jaire Alexander- his first career pick-six
- Xavier McKinney- his third interception in three games
- Devonte Wyatt- two sacks
- Preston Smith- two sacks
- Kingsley Enagbare- 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble
- Lukas Van Ness- one sack and a fumble recovery
In total, the Packers sacked Wil Levis (who ironically lost the starting quarterback job to Sean Clifford while the two were teammates at Penn State) eight times.
The Packers defense brought their interception total to seven in just three games. They had seven all of last year.
3 Green Bay Packers Duds vs the Tennessee Titans
In such a dominating win, it is difficult to dwell on the negative too much. That being said, there were a couple players, in particular, who stood out as needing to improve:
- Kicker Brayden Narveson- While he was officially 3/3 on field goals, he missed a 48-yard attempt that luckily (for him) was negated by a Titans’ penalty. He had missed a field goal in which of Green Bay’s first two games.
- Left tackle Rasheed Walker- the third-year tackle continued to be one of the most penalized linemen in the NFL.
