The Green Bay Packers are set to take on the Tennessee Titans for the third game of the 2024 NFL regular season. As was the case in their 16-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts last week, the Packers will officially be without their franchise quarterback. Jordan Love sprained his MCL in Green Bay’s Week One loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and, initially, many thought he was lost for the season.
Fortunately, he did not suffer any damage to his ACL. The Packers did not put him on injured reserve, indicating their belief that he would be able to return within four weeks.
There Was Hope that Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Would Be Able to Play Against the Tennessee Titans
Unlike last week immediately following his injury, Love practiced every day this week in Green Bay. He was limited, however, with every single Packers coach and player asked about the star quarterback giving the same response: “limited.”
Love was listed as questionable on the injury report all week, making many believe that he would be able to return in Week Three. However, Green Bay announced that last year’s backup, Sean Clifford, was being elevated from the practice squad.
This turn of events led fans and analysts to believe that Malik Willis, the former Titans quarterback who was acquired by Green Bay via trade in the latter days of training camp, would start again. Last week against the Colts, Willis completed 12 of 14 passes for 122 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions, and a 126.8 passer rating.
Some, though, held out hope that Love would be able to play on Sunday and that Clifford’s elevation was simply some extra insurance.
Jordan Love Has Been Ruled OUT for the Green Bay Packers Game vs the Tennessee Titans
Late last night, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that Love was going to be inactive for the second consecutive week and that Willis will be starting against his former team.
While Love did his pregame workout on Sunday morning in Tennessee, the medical staff did not clear him to play.
Fans overwhelmingly supported this decision:

As one can see, instead of expressing negativity regarding Love not playing, Packers fans are looking forward to watching Willis play against the team that traded him to Green Bay.
Willis already has more wins and touchdown passes (one each) than he did in two seasons (three start) with Tennessee.
