Green Bay Packers Fans React to Davante Adams Requesting a Trade Away from Raiders

For over a year, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has maintained that he does not want to play anywhere else. Prior to the 2022 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers traded Adams, who informed the team he would not play on the franchise tag, to the Raiders in exchange for Las Vegas’ first and second round picks that year.

In other words, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst traded away a player who publicly said he would not play for his team to the Raiders in exchange for Las Vegas’ first two picks in the NFL Draft.

Since the Raiders gave up so much draft capital, and because they gave Adams such a lucrative contract, many believed that he was going to finish his career in Las Vegas.

That, however, does not seem like it will be case.

When Adams was a sudden addition to the Raiders’ injury report ahead of their Week Four victory over the Cleveland Browns, many started to speculate that he would be traded soon. Of course, rumors and trade speculation have surrounded Adams ever since Las Vegas decided to part ways with Derek Carr, who Adams admitted was a major reason why he chose the Raiders as his preferred destination.

All offseason, however, Adams has repeatedly denied that he wants to be traded. While he has been openly frustrated on the sidelines of games, he has consistently stated that his desire is to remain with the team.

That is, until Tuesday.

After an interview with Kay Adamas, during which he learned that Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce liked a social media post claiming that the All-Pro wide receiver had played his last game for Las Vegas, Adams informed the team that he wanted to be traded.

Fans from multiple fanbases had a wide variety of reactions to this news, but some of the more unique ones came from fans of his former team, the Packers.

When the Packers decided to trade Adams, it was met with mixed reactions from fans. There was clear frustration that the front office had allowed contract extension talks to get to the point where the star wide receiver felt disrespected by their financial offers. However, there was also an understanding that a changing of the guard was at hand.

Clearly, there are many fans who would like to see Adams back in Green Bay. And why wouldn’t they? He is one of the best pass catchers in the NFL.

However, Green Bay has a deep wide receiver room and is unlikely to trade for a player that would take reps away from their own young group.

A reunion with Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets, though, is very much in play.
