Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, in the midst of court cases regarding his involvement is a Mississippi welfare scandal, is becoming a more frequent user of social media. While he does not address his ongoing legal issues, he is addressing two other topics for which he has shown a passion: football (of course) and politics.
As one might expect, his posts, whether they be about football or politics, garner mixed reactions from fans, many of whom bring up his ongoing legal troubles in Mississippi. As his cases are still being investigated, the Hall of Fame quarterback does not respond to these comments.
On Monday morning, he made a post about the upcoming election that, as expected, garnered a variety of responses.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Encourages Voters to Do Their Own Research
On Monday, Farve made the following post:
About 150 million people are going to vote with only a handful of them being celebrities.
I hope most people do their own research instead of listening to their fav singer, actor, or athlete.🇺🇸
— Brett Favre (@BrettFavre) September 9, 2024
Favre’s message, of course, is not an endorsement of any candidate or party, but rather a plea for voters not to let themselves be influenced by celebrities and athletes. Instead, they should be doing their own research when deciding what candidate to vote for.
It is rather ironic that he is using his own fame and celebrity in an attempt to convince people not to be influence by fame and celebrity, though.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Has Supported Donald Trump for a Long Time
This all being said, it is no secret who Favre will be casting his ballot for in November. The former Packers quarterback has long been a supporter of Donald Trump, and has expressed his disdain for current President Joe Biden on numerous occassions.
Back in 2023, Favre made the following comments on Jason Whitlock’s podcast, “Fearless:”
“I think our country was in better shape with him. I think Donald was a non-political president, and I liked that about him. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I perfect? Absolutely not. I’m flawed just like the rest of ’em. We’re all flawed. But I really felt like he had our country in a better place and really cared about our people in our country.
“Black, white, Hispanic, Asian — you name it. I think if you were an American citizen, he cared about you, first and foremost. I don’t know if our current president has the same mentality.”
Favre and Trump also have been golfing partners from time to time:

So while Favre says he wants people to do their own research, it is clear that he believes they should be voting a certain way.
