While Jordan Love, Malik Willis, and the Green Bay Packers prepare to take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, one of their former quarterbacks, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre, is taking on different battles off of the football field.

At this point, fans are well-aware that Favre is battling some serious allegations related to the Mississippi welfare scandal. According to reports and court documents, the former Packers quarterback allegedly stoles millions of dollars from the state’s welfare fund in order to pay for a new volleyball stadium at his daughter’s college.

Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Has Gotten Political on Social Media
As Favre’s allegations are part of an ongoing investigation, the former Packers quarterback does not address them publicly. While he does talk and post about football on social media, many of his recent posts have been related to politics.
It is no secret that the former Packers quarterback leans conservatively on the political spectrum. In the past, he has been an outspoken supporter of former United States President Donald Trump, who is running again this year against current Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I think our country was in better shape with him,” Favre said during an appearance on Jason Whitlock’s Fearless last year. “I think Donald was a non-political president, and I liked that about him. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Am I perfect? Absolutely not. I’m flawed just like the rest of ’em. We’re all flawed. But I really felt like he had our country in a better place and really cared about our people in our country.
“Black, white, Hispanic, Asian — you name it. I think if you were an American citizen, he cared about you, first and foremost. I don’t know if our current president has the same mentality.”
Clearly, Favre has no problem using his fame and platform to share his political views. However, it seems that he does have an issue with others doing it.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre Took a Veiled Shot at Taylor Swift Following Her Endorsement of Kamala Harris
As many football fans know, Taylor Swift, the popstar girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, made waves after the latest presidential debate with her endorsement of Harris. It should not have come as a big surprise as she has endorsed numerous Democratic politicians in the past.
However, there has been a great deal of criticism leveled at Swift for her endorsement. Many do not feel it is the place for celebrities to share their opinions on politics (ignoring the fact that it does fall under their rights protected by the First Amendment).
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, when asked about the political goings-on in the country, declined to share his opinion (though his wife has publicly expressed her support for Trump).
Mahomes’ decision to not endorse one candidate or another was praised by Favre on social media in a post in which he took a veiled shot at Swift:
Good take by Mahomes — I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves.
If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their fav pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing. https://t.co/kReCND6Q9C

While he does not name Swift specifically, it is clear who Favre is talking about.
It should be noted that, in her endorsement of Harris, Swift encouraged her fans to do their own research and make the decision that was best for them. “Your research is your to do and the choice is yours to make,” Swift wrote.
This is a similar message to the one Favre himself shared on social media: “I hope most people do their own research instead of listening to their fav singer, actor, or athlete.”
The irony, of course, is that Favre is using his own platform as a high-profile [former] athlete to spread his own political messages.
It would seem he has a bigger problem with whom Swift endorsed rather than the fact that she made her endorsement public.
