The Green Bay Packers and their fans have been waiting for the results of tests on Jordan Love’s knee ever since he went down with an injury in the closing seconds of their Week One game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Because the game was played in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the team had to wait until the arrived home in Wisconsin for tests to be done.
In the meantime, fans and analysts looked at replies and did quick Google searches in hopes of finding any silver lining and sliver of hope that would assure them that Love’s injury was not season-ending.
Well, the results are in, and he will be okay.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Suffered a Sprained MCL
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Love’s imaging tests that were performed this afternoon confirmed that his ACL is intact. He did not suffer a season-ending injury.
However, he did suffer a MCL sprain and the timetable for his return to the field is not yet known.

He followed up his post with this:
This is very good news, considering the various possibilities. Jordan Love should miss some time. But this is positive news. https://t.co/MLlvzGzHqs

As one can see from his posts, the Packers do not know how long Love will be out, but he is going to miss some time.
A Grade 1 MCL sprain can heal in just a few days or a week, but a Grade 2 sprain takes two-four weeks to heal. Since his ACL is not damaged, the worst-case scenario would be a Grade 3 sprain, which would take four-eight weeks to heal, per UCFS Health.
Who Will Start at Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers with Jordan Love Out?
Before the season started, the Packers sent a 2025 NFL Draft pick to the Tennessee Titans for quarterback Malik Willis, who came in for Love in relief on Friday night for a few seconds.
The trade for Willis came after Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt both struggled during training camp and in preseason games. Both Clifford and Pratt were cut when the roster was trimmed to 53 players. Clifford was re-signed to the practice squad and Pratt was picked up by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If Green Bay wants a veteran quarterback that could start and already knows Matt LaFleur’s system, they could look into signing free agent Ryan Tannehill.
