When Green Bay Packers quarterback, Jordan Love, went down in the final seconds of the season opener in Brazil, many fans thought the worst and believed the season may be over before it had even really begun.
Despite the relative good news that Loves injury was ‘just’ an MCL sprain, expected to keep him out for 3-6 weeks, this put a dampener over the team’s expectations for the ensuing season. Could the Packers survive a potential 0-4 – or worse – with unproven new arrival, Malik Willis, next up on the QB depth chart.
Fast forward to Wednesday; the Green Bay Packers are 1-1, and witnessed Willis acquitting himself excellently in a difficult situation, going 12-14 in a triumphant home opener against the Indianapolis Colts amidst head coach Matt LeFleur’s masterful game plan.
Jordan Love Making Quick Progress In Recovery

Perhaps even more surprising than Willis’ impressive play is Love’ remarkable recovery time from what is not just a minor injury. Reports surfaced on Monday that the packers’ franchise quarterback almost played on Sunday, according to insider Rob Demovsky.
Now, the accuracy of this statement has been widely debated, with many arguing this is merely a smokescreen to gain a competitive advantage on their Week 3 opponents, the Tennessee Titans, who would have to separate game plans to prepare for both Love and Willis, draining resources away from other areas of pre-match preparation in what is already a busy time of year.
Yet, it seems now that the Packers may have been playing their cards straight, as some fairly impressive news has broke concerning Jordan Love’s status, per Demovsky.

Jordan Love Seen Practicing On Wednesday, Will He Be Ready For Week 3?

Although Love was not exactly running laps around the field, his movement in the practice videos seem to be fairly fluid and unrestricted, even though the session was clearly not being run at full pace.
A sleeve on his leg may seem to be alarming to some, however, in returning from an injury with moderate severity, protective equipment during a practice is completely normal to be expected.
At the end of the day, one imagines that the Packers will not bring back Love until he is legitimately ready to play; risking more serious re-injury yields a poor payoff to just have their guy back just a week or two earlier in the primary stages of the regular season.
And, it could well be that after a strong display in Indy, Green Bay may be very confident in Willis’ ability to dismantle a Mike Vrabel-less Titans defense under supervision of new defensive coordinator, Ryan Nielsen.
Yet, the fact that he is practicing certainly increases his play probability in Week 3, especially if he was indeed close to playing against the Colts.
You would imagine though, that even if he is almost there at the end of the week, that Green Bay would prefer to give him an extra week to ensure proper recovery, even if it may cost them a win this weekend in Tennessee.
