It’s hard to believe, but four weeks of the NFL season are in the books. After a tough 31-29 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, the Green Bay Packers begin preparation for their next opponent, the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams were a popular pick by many analysts and writers to be not only a playoff team, but a team that could make noise in the playoffs. However, that has not been the case so far as they enter this game 1-3. Here is an early look at the Los Angeles Rams.
The Green Bay Packers Will Not See the Rams Top 2 Receivers
Los Angeles has two of the better wide receivers in the entire league. That would be veteran Cooper Kupp and second year receiver Puka Nacua, who took the league by storm last year as a fifth round rookie. Nacua is currently on IR and Kupp has already been ruled out of this game. It’s been an impact on quarterback Matthew Stafford who has struggled since both went down,
In the receiving game, it will likely be Tutu Atwell and Demarcus Robinson who will get the attention of the Green Bay Packers defense. Add in Tyler Johnson and that the corp I would expect to get the targets in this game. It’s definitely a step down for this Packers defense, but this group can still make plays
A Stud Running Back
What the Rams do have a stud running back in Kyren Williams. The stats may now wow you and he is only averaging 3.5 yards a carry, but he is clearly the bell cow on this offense with Kupp and Nacua out. Williams already have six total touchdowns with five coming on the ground.
I think the Rams will try to use the screen game in a way the Vikings did last week with Aaron Jones. They cooked the Green Bay Packers defense with screens multiple times and they seemed to have no answer for it. Williams has 68 yards receiving on 13 catches so he is a threat. We will see with the Rams offensive line whoa re also down multiple starters.
The Rams Have a Struggling Defense
For years the Rams always had a stud defense that was led by first ballot hall of famer Aaron Donald. Donald has since retired and this group doesn’t look like the same. They have given up at least 24 points in every game including 41 to a Arizona team that struggles to score points.
The Rams did spend five of their first six draft picks on defense so it is a young group that will get better as the year goes on. The Green Bay Packers cored 29 points and moved the ball really well against a Vikings team that is on of the best in the league. I think this is a defense that Jordan Love can expose. The Packers never play well on the west coast, but I think this is an opportunity to have a nice day on offense this Sunday.
