The 2025 NFL season is right around the corner and the Green Bay Packers are going to be one of the most interesting teams to keep an eye on early. After back-to-back seasons of making the playoffs since Aaron Rodgers’ departure, it’s time for the Packers to show that they’re capable of being a legitimate contender.

In each of the last two years, the team has showed championship potential. However, they have been unable to make the necessary plays in the playoffs.

Jordan Love leads the way into his third season as the starter in Green Bay. He has an elite offense around him.

Defensively, the Packers have a chance to be very good in Jeff Hafley’s second year as the team’s defensive coordinator. There are some questions about the secondary.

Could general manager Brian Gutekunst consider making a move before the start of the season to shore up the defensive backfield? One potential name has been suggested as a possible target.

Bleacher Report analyst Matt Holder believes that Green Bay is a top-tier landing spot for veteran free agent cornerback Rasul Douglas. Of course, the fans know very well who Douglas is.

Douglas had a successful stint with the Packers just a couple of short years ago. He was well liked by the fan base before being traded to the Buffalo Bills.

“Douglas revived his career with the Packers in 2021, and a reunion would make a lot of sense. After moving on from Jaire Alexander last month, Green Bay is expected to start Nate Hobbs and Keisean Nixon at outside cornerback,” Holder wrote. “Both Hobbs and Nixon are better at nickelback, though, so adding Douglas could allow one of them to move back to their more natural position.”

During the 2024 NFL season with the Bills, Douglas took a step back from a production perspective. He played in 15 games, recording 58 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble and five defended passes.

Back in the 2023 campaign, however, split between Green Bay and Buffalo, he played much better. He recorded 61 total tackles, a sack, three fumble recoveries, five interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 14 defended passes.

A reunion with Douglas would make a lot of sense for the Packers. Whether or not the team would be interested in that move remains to be seen, but it’s at least an option worth considering.
