The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings will meet in an early season matchup that will determine early positioning in the NFC North. At 3-0, the Vikings currently lead the division, but the Packers, at 2-1, can take over first place with a win.
The game has been highly anticipated all week, especially for fans in Green Bay. Former Packers running back Aaron Jones, who ranks third on the franchise’s all-time rushing list, is making his return to Lambeau Field for the first time as a visiting player.
Additionally, starting quarterback Jordan Love is playing in his first game since spraining his MCL in Green Bay’s Week One loss against the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Showed Up Wearing a Brett Favre Jersey
Earlier this week, Packers legend and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre revealed to Congress to that he has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.
On Sunday, Love showed up to Lambeau Field sporting a Favre jersey, apparently in support of the franchise icon:

Favre, of course, has been at the center of a legal battle over the past few years in his home state of Mississippi. The former Packers quarterback is one of several people who are being sued for allegedly stealing money from the state’s TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) fund.
The suit alleges that Favre used hundreds of thousands of dollars of TANF money to fund a new volleyball stadium for his daughter’s college. He also has been ordered to repay over $1 million to the state for speaking engagements he did not honor.
Favre’s business partner, Prevacus founder Jake VanLandingham, pleaded guilty to wire fraud in connection to the Mississippi Welfare Scandal.
Green Bay Packers Fans Have Mixed Reactions to Jordan Love Wearing a Brett Favre Jersey
As was the case when he played (specifically towards the end of his career), Packers fans have been split on how they feel about Favre since the allegations in Mississippi came to light. Many remember him for his great play on the field and still hold him in high esteem. Others cannot look past what he allegedly did and no longer support him.
Both of these views on Favre were evident in fan reactions to Love showing up to Lambeau in a Favre jersey:
I heard the Vikings are hiding welfare funds inside their losses. You know what to do, J Love! #GoPackGo

It’s good to see Jordan Love show respect for Brett Farve. #GoPackGo

It is worth noting that Favre has not been indicted for any crimes in connection to the Mississippi Welfare Scandal. In the eyes of the law (and many fans), he is innocent.
He is not considered guiltless by many others, though.
Regardless, Love is not wearing the jersey to make a statement about what is happening in Mississippi courtrooms. He is showing support for a franchise legend who is facing a very uncertain future.

“Guilty until proven innocent” should be the Wisconsin state motto!
