The Green Bay Packers’ offensive line will look completely different in 2025. First, Green Bay signed former San Francisco 49ers left guard Aaron Banks to a monster $77 million deal. Then, Josh Myers, their 60-game starting center, left to join the New York Jets for only $3.5 million. With these changes, the center position will take center stage this offseason.

The Green Bay Packers’ Pro Bowler emerged as the favorite at center

Packers’ versatile 2x Pro Bowl guard Elgton Jenkins is currently the favorite to start at center. Jenkins has ample experience at center, having started there for the Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2017 and 2018, his last two college seasons, and he also started three games with over 297 snaps in 2020. Finally, he served as the backup in 2024 and started in Week 9 against the Detroit Lions when Josh Myers was out.
Green Bay Packers confirm position change for Pro Bowler

According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, General Manager Brian Gutekunst confirmed that Pro Bowl left guard Elgton Jenkins will switch to center this offseason following the addition of Aaron Banks. Gutekunst has confidence that Jenkins will excel there and believes he can be an All-Pro center.

Who will serve as the backup?

Although it’s too early, Jacob Monk is currently the favorite to serve as Elgton Jenkins’ backup in 2025. Monk started ten games at center for the Duke Blue Devils in 2022 and 2023, his last two college seasons. He did not play a single offensive snap during his rookie season.
Another option is Sean Rhyan. Rhyan is in contention for the starting right guard job after starting every game there in 2024. He also served as the third-string center last year and filled in during the Wild Card Round against the Philadelphia Eagles after Myers and Jenkins went down with an injury.
