Green Bay Packers have taken a lot of steps this off-season that will ensure that the future remains bright for the team. The team has gotten younger, while also having more talent at positions where they have been weaker. Furthermore, they brought in a number of players in an attempt to create competition across the roster, making sure that starters will have to earn their places every week.
In order to keep that competition up, the Packers were named in a reunion that makes a lot of sense.
The Green Bay Packers Could Partake In Massive Reunion
Wendell Ferreira of A to Z Sports highlighted how a David Bakhtiari return could make a ton of sense both on the field and the salary cap:
Look at the Green Bay Packers offensive roster, and you will quickly understand what its biggest issue is. Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom are good and promising young tackles, but the lack of depth is concerning — and something that got clearer after Andre Dillard’s underwhelming performance against the Cleveland Browns last Saturday.
Developmental players like Kadeem Telfort and Caleb Jones don’t seem like ideal alternatives either, so maybe an old friend could end up being the best option.
Sure enough, his knee issues have made him a cap casualty back in March. But at least Bakhtiari has had a positive medical update back in May.
According to NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport, the former Green Bay Packers All-Pro offensive lineman had follow-up exams after new surgeries and has been proclaimed on schedule to be back in 2024.
Bakhtiari has yet to work out for NFL teams less than one month before the regular season begins. Prior to making a final decision, he plans to be fully healthy. In any case, if he isn’t ready for week 1, Green Bay could move on later – after all, Rasheed Walker is the starter.
It is safe to say that the offensive tackle market is as thin as you would expect in August, and without a doubt the best player available right now is none other than former Packers All-Pro David Bakhtiari.
