With the 2024 NFL trade deadline coming up quickly on November 5th, the Green Bay Packers could be a very intriguing team to keep an eye on.
At this point in the year heading into Week 7 action, the Packers hold a 4-2 record. They look the part of a potential Super Bowl contender.
Could Brian Gutekunst consider getting aggressive on the trade market to add more talent to boost Green Bay’s chances of competing for a championship?
If they do look into making a trade, there are a couple of areas that they could use more help. One of them is in the pass-rush. Another could come at the cornerback position.
All of that being said, they have been urged to trade for one intriguing edge rusher in particular.
Green Bay Packers Urged to Consider Huge Trade for Pass-Rusher
Nick Villano of FanSided has suggested that the Green Bay Packers should pursue a trade with the Miami Dolphins for pass-rusher Bradley Chubb. He is still recovering from an ACL tear, but should be good to go at some point later in the year.
“It still makes sense to add talent on the defense, especially when the Packers can buy low on a superstar. Bradley Chubb once cost the Miami Dolphins a first-round pick, but he’s coming off a major knee injury, and they are going nowhere. They already have his replacement in Chop Robinson, and Chubb would be better served rushing the passer on a contender.”
Villano continued on, mentioning that the Green Bay Packers would be able to have patience until Chubb returns to the field following a trade.
“The Packers are a pretty good fit, and Chubb can still continue to rehab his torn ACL until he’s ready to go. The Packers need him in the second half of the season, and he’s on pace to be ready then.”
During the 2023 season with the Dolphins, Chubb was an absolute star. He racked up 73 tackles, 11 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two defended passes in 16 games.
Adding those numbers to a Green Bay Packers’ defense that has had a great pass-rush so far this season would make them even more dangerous. Jeff Hafley would likely love to have Chubb in his defense.
All of that being said, this race may not be likely, but it would certainly make sense. Keep an eye on the Packers as the trade deadline draws closer.
