The 10-4 Green Bay Packers host the 5-9 New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football. With a victory over the Saints, the Packers will clinch the playoff berth and can finish as high as the 5th seed. Despite potentially clinching a playoff berth tonight, the Packers cannot afford to be complacent because if they finish with the same or a worse record than the Washington Commanders, they could ultimately fall to the 7th seed in the NFC.
The Green Bay Packers second-year offensive weapon has yet to play since Week 4
Packers’ second-year tight end Luke Musgrave suffered an ankle injury in Week 4 against the Minnesota Vikings. He suited up for Week 5 against the Los Angeles Rams despite not practicing but didn’t play a single snap. Musgrave’s last practice occurred on Wednesday, October 9, before the Packers placed him on injured reserve ahead of Week 6 because his injury was worse than expected. He later announced that he suffered a torn ligament in his left ankle, which required surgery.

The Packers designated Musgrave for a return on Wednesday, December 11, effectively opening his 21-day practice window. He participated in last week’s practice as a limited participant. However, he wasn’t quite ready to return to the football field, as the Packers ruled him out for Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Green Bay Packers announced massive news
For the second consecutive week, Luke Musgrave participated as a limited participant during the week of practice, but the Packers listed him as questionable, and all they had to do was activate him in time for Monday’s night game. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Packers activated Musgrave. As Pelissero points out, he’ll play today but will have a limited role since they plan on easing him in to avoid the risk of aggravating his ankle injury.

Who took over as the TE2?
Packers’ second-year tight end Ben Sims took over as the number two tight end with Luke Musgrave out of the lineup. Sims, primarily known for his blocking abilities, isn’t heavily involved in the passing game. He has four receptions on five targets for 42 yards in 14 games, five starts, and 201 offensive snaps.
