Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur leaves the field after losing to the San Francisco 49ers during their NFC divisional playoff football game Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Green Bay Packers-San Francisco 49ers Report Suddenly Picking Up Steam

The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers are two teams who feel they can be a contender in the NFC in 2024.  That would make sense given that these two teams met in the divisional round of the playoffs last season and just three points separated the winner from the loser.

However, could these two teams be in business prior to the start of this season?

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report listed a number of teams that WR Brandon Aiyuk should reconsider joining, the Packers were among them:

Elsewhere in the competitive NFC North, the Packers have a slew of intriguing young receivers but nobody who has proved himself to even remotely the same degree as Aiyuk.

Rather than putting the Lions over the top, Aiyuk could be the ideal final puzzle piece for Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love in what is a critical season for both team and quarterback.

Unlike the Lions, the Packers can offer Aiyuk the obvious top role in the offense. And unlike the Bills, they can offer him a decent amount of cash upfront due to a superior cap situation.

The Packers have a core of wide receivers that they feel great about, still, adding someone like Aiyuk could take their offense to another level.

Aiyuk has played the last four seasons with the 49ers and here are his career stats to date:

  • 269 receptions
  • 3,931 receiving yards
  • 27 touchdowns

Would the Packers be willing to part with numerous draft picks and sign Aiyuk to a massive contract?  That seems to be the biggest question.
