It was a tough road game where the Green Bay Packers did not play all that well. However, they were able to buckle down in the second half and beat the Los Angeles Rams 24-19 yesterday. The Packers found themselves down 13-10 at half, but won the third quarter 14-0. The defense was able to force back to back turnovers to open the third quarter and made one last stand to end the game. Here are some takeaways from the game yesterday.
Tucker Kraft is the Best Tight End on this Green Bay Packers Roster and it’s not Close
After Luke Musgrave was selected in the second round last year, the Green Bay Packers grabbed Tucker Kraft in the third round. He was seen as the blocking tight end while Musgrave had home run potential.
Musgrave was questionable coming into this game. He was active, but did not appear to play. It was a great chance for Kraft and he took advantage of it with four catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns. This was highlighted by a 66 yard touchdown in the third quarter.
There is a ton of potential with Tucker Kraft. he has played the most amount of snaps between all the tight ends in every game. At some point, Musgrave will be more active in the offense, but Kraft is by far the best tight end on this roster.
Xavier McKinney is an Absolute Stud
The Green Bay Packers threw a ton of money at Xavier McKinney this offseason. It was deserved at the times since he was the top safety in the free agent market. He has been worth every penny of the contract and then some.
McKinney recorded his fifth interception of the season off Matthew Stafford yesterday. He has now recorded an interception in all five games. Five interceptions is a career year for most players and he has done this not even half way through the season. He is all over the field and has been solid tacking ball carriers. He is heading the secondary and is doing a great job at it.
The Green Bay Packers Won a Game They did not Play Well in
This was a game you get out and don’t apologize for a win despite not playing well. Jordan Love was not very good outside the huge play to Kraft and Jayden Reed. He had an awful interception after trowing the ball in the air trying to prevent a safety. It was not smart play at all, but he didn’t let it impact him the rest of the game.
Like last year, everything seems to be a tick off between Love and the Green Bay Packers wide receivers. I have no doubt they will be able to fix this moving forward, but it is something that needs to be improved on.
The defense did get three sacks and 10 pressure son Matthew Stafford, but the pass rush was still not very good. I am not sure why this continues to be an issue with guys like Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary, and Lukas Van Ness, but they are not getting to the quarterback. Jeff Hafley will have this work cut out for him as this group needs to be better.
