The Browns’ defense has a lot of potential to be very good. They have players like Myles Garrett who always seems to be in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation, and then they have players like Denzel Ward who is coming off of his best season. Cleveland also has Greg Newsome II who impressed in his rookie season, and they believe he can take the next step alongside Denzel Ward. But then, there is one player that is intriguing to almost everyone on the Browns’ roster. And that is the second-year player Grant Delpit.
Last year, Delpit had 66 tackles, three passes defended, one interception, one forced fumble, and one sack. But he really played his best down the stretch. In the last four games of 2021, Delpit had 31 tackles. And believe it or not, the Browns are excited about his performance next season.
Even John Johnson III believes that Grant Delpit is one of the best safeties in the league.

He went on to say this during the second day of the Browns’ training camp:
“He’s one of the best, period. He’s like a mixture of myself or Ronnie (Harrison Jr.). I feel like he could pretty much do everything. He can take the ball away. He’s explosive. He’s a good leader.”
Even in a Sports Illustrated article by Albert Breer, he also thinks that Delpit will have a great second season.
“Cleveland is really excited about the offseason safety Grant Delpit’s had. Because of a combination of the pandemic and Delpit’s own health issues, this was the first one he’s gone through all the way with his teammates. He was around the ball a lot in the spring and has clearly built off a strong finish to 2021.”
The Browns are obviously very high on Delpit, and he seems destined to have a breakout season in 2022.
