The New York Giants signed quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason to potentially be the starting quarterback for this football team. Wilson was not the only quarterback move that the Giants made during the offseason.

They also signed quarterback Jameis Winston in free agency and also drafted quarterback Jaxson Dart from the Ole Miss Rebels in the 2025 NFL Draft. With the quarterbacks being the story for New York at OTAs, will there be a battle all summer long or is there a clear cut starter entering the 2025 NFL season?
New York Giants Insider Reports That Russell Wilson Will Be the Starting Quarterback To Begin the 2025 NFL Season

Many Giants fans are wondering if there will be a quarterback battle for the start of OTAs and leading up to training camp. However, the thoughts of having a quarterback battle all summer long doesn’t appear to be happening.
ESPN.com writer Jordan Raanan covers the Giants and said about the quarterbacks on Wednesday during OTAs,
“Russell Wilson is the New York Giants’ clear-cut starting quarterback at organized team activities. That was apparent by the distribution of reps at Wednesday’s practice, the first such workout open to the media this year. Wilson took most of the first-team snaps, with rookie Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston also sneaking in a few. Tommy DeVito fit in for four third-team reps throughout the practice.”
Wilson was with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2024 NFL season. He completed 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Wilson also rushed for 155 yards on 43 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 3.6 yards per carry.
This would be better production for the Giants in 2025 than what they had in 2024 with Daniel Jones and other quarterbacks. With New York most likely starting Wilson in 2025, Winston will most likely will be the backup and rookie Dart will most likely be the third string quarterback. DeVito will most likely not make the 53-man roster and be on the Giants practice squad instead.
New York’s quarterback room in 2025 is far more superior than what it is was during the 2024 NFL season. The Giants had a 3-14 record in 2024. Head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen better hope that this team will show massive improvements. Wilson is 36 years old and even though this may not energize the fanbase right away, it is better than he starts than a rookie in Dart who gets thrown into the wolves right away also.
