This morning is filled with mourning and sadness just days after winning back to back National titles in Athens Georgia. A Georgia Player and Recruiter were involved in a car crash this morning that took their lives. Two other people including another player were also in the car but are in stable condition as of now.
Devin Willock was a red shirt freshman who played offensive lineman for Georgia. He was a backup who played in every game this season and was full of potential to be the starter very soon. More importantly though, Willock was a 20 year old young man who is gone far to soon.
Chandler LeCroy was on the recruiting staff at Georgia. She was 24 years old. LeCroy was driving with Willock in the passenger seat. In the back was another male and female who are at the hospital in stable condition.
It was a single car accident on Barnett Shoals Rd at 2:45 am. Their car lost control and hit a couple of power poles and trees before coming to a stop. The Athens Clarke county police department said Willock died on the scene of the accident. While LeCroy was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. At this time the two other passengers weren’t identified and are in stable condition.
“The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy. Two other members of the football program were injured in the accident. They are both in stable condition, and we will continue to monitor their status with medical personnel,” the UGA Athletic Association said in a statement.
