After four weeks atop the AP Top 25 Poll, the Georgia football team dropped four spots following a failed come-from-behind victory on the road against their longtime rival, the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Georgia Bulldogs had a nightmarish opening, surrendering a 28-0 lead through the game’s first quarter and change. However, Georgia answered back with their own run, with a 28-3 scoring difference in the second half before Alabama retook the lead for good on a 75-yard touchdown pass.
Despite the road loss, which included surrendering 547 yards of offense to Alabama and committing four turnovers, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart left the SEC tilt impressed with his team for rallying down four touchdowns. Smart provided a fiery postgame speech in the Georgia football locker room, expressing his joy for the team’s ability to compete for 60 minutes.
Kirby Smart Gives Passionate Postgame Speech
According to Wyatt Fulton of the Tide 100.9 FM:
Kirby Smart postgame in the Georgia locker room after losing a heartbreaker to Alabama
“I have never in my life been more proud of guys competing for 60 minutes of the game over and over and over and over. We said in the second half we got to win more moments than them. One moment short. I want every one of you to think about how you feel right now because how you respond to this tells me everything about who you are. But you know what? We better get better.”
Georgia football’s Kirby Smart directed his passion towards his players postgame, complimenting them for never surrendering against a tough Alabama Crimson Tide squad despite an early 28-0 deficit. Smart also pushed for his players to get ready and prepare for a bounce-back effort against the Auburn Tigers this upcoming Saturday.
Following last weekend’s defeat, Georgia is 3-1 and ranks fifth in the newest AP Poll Top 25 rendition. However, more concerning, Georgia under Kirby Smart is now just 1-6. Alabama also owns a 44-26-4 record all-time against Georgia football. Following Smart’s speech, fans became divided on the overall tone of the message:
No they are not. I won’t be surprised the win out and whip Texas in Austin. They are going to slaughter Auburn this weekend.

At half the odds we would lead at any point in the game had to be impossible. That we did is an amazing reality. Still Dawg proud. -ML '78.

I don’t know. Feels like that have another loss in them and maybe 2. Definitely think there are 3-4 teams that beat them in the playoffs.

Kirby going out bad ain’t no moral victory or one moment short🙄 How about taking the blame having a bye week & still not having your team ready🤷♂️ How about all the missed tackles which is a TREND for the team now? Kirby going soft can’t believe it🤷♂️
