It was ugly, but the Georgia football team beat the Kentucky Wildcats 13-12 on the road. With the win, the Georgia Bulldogs have won 42 straight regular-season games dating back to the 2020 campaign. One of the country’s most consistent and well-rounded teams, The Bulldogs found themselves in a dogfight (pun intended) late but squeaked by following a failed lateral play by their SEC foe in the final seconds.
Georgia fans were unpleased with the performance, with the SEC power narrowly winning despite being a three-touchdown favorite. However, more than anything, the Georgia football faithful were relieved to finish the game as winners, keeping their undefeated season alive.
Georgia Football Fans Alleviated Following Close Victory
According to Dawg Nation’s Bill King:
The #1 Georgia Bulldogs have won:
– 42 consecutive regular season games, an ongoing school record
– 28 consecutive regular-season SEC games, an ongoing school record
– 16 consecutive true road games, an ongoing school record
Ugly as it gets, but a win is a win. Go Dawgs!
With the win, Georgia football has won 42 straight regular season games. The record for most regular season wins belongs to the Oklahoma Sooners, who won 47 straight from 1953 to 1957. Georgia’s offense failed to score a touchdown until early in the fourth quarter, with running back Branson Robinson scampering for a three-yard score. The Bulldogs did not run the ball effectively, totaling 102 yards on the ground, with only Trevor Etienne averaging more than four yards per carry. Quarterback Carson Beck also failed to push the ball downfield, going 15-of-24 for 160 yards.
More importantly, Georgia did not turn the ball over while the defense played lights-out football. Pass rusher Jalon Walker wreaked havoc in the Kentucky backfield, while Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins collected a pair of sacks. Kentucky averaged just 3.8 yards per attempt rushing. Former Georgia football quarterback and current Kentucky starting signal-caller Brock Vandagriff did not have an ideal revenge game against his old school, barely completing half his passes for just 114 yards. Nevertheless, Georgia fans were critical of their team postgame but happy they came away with a victory despite playing less-than-ideal football:
Kirby is gonna have them running the stadium all week

It. Is. The. SEC. People who do have a SEC team, don’t understand. Every single game in the SEC can be vicious.

I saw this EXACT SAME GAME (maybe worse) in Columbia, Missouri in 2022 and the Georgia Bulldogs went on to win the National Championship Game that season by the score of 65-7.
Take the Road SEC Dub. Accept the test. Be grateful. And as always… #GoDawgs 🏆🏆

I’ll take it, but absolutely not happy

Alison I am happy we won, but it seems our defense wasn't quite there, this should have been at least a two-three touchdown game

I gotta go to bed after that one. 3-0 but a brotha is worn out.#GoDawgs #SECFootball pic.twitter.com/LDDQ4RO8Rv

Perfect game by Georgia. Got a road SEC win. Kept it close for ratings. Defensive front got rest every time UK ran. Propped up a former UGA QB. Doubled Beck’s career 4th qtr snaps. Left little brother Bama with no well-run plays to study during its bye week. Flawless. #GoDawgs

For whatever reason, always tough in Lexington. Dawgs always find a way. #GoDawgs #DawgsOnTop https://t.co/3w21i8hmxU

Tough win on the road in the SEC. We can take a lot from that. No touchdowns given up through 3 stay strong defense! #GoDawgs!

Okay #GoDawgs nation
Here’s my positive takeaway
We still have not allowed a TD yet.
Let’s get healthy in the bye. We’ve got some work to do. pic.twitter.com/HpxGpIS31Z
