The #2 Georgia Bulldogs will face the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide in a very tough road game next weekend. This is the first time Georgia and Alabama will face off against each other since the Crimson Tide defeated the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game a season ago.
Georgia missed the college football playoff last season because of the loss to Alabama. The Crimson Tide made the postseason before they lost to the Michigan Wolverines.
Georgia Bulldogs Open As Road Favorites Next Week Against the Alabama Crimson Tide
With the way the Georgia Bulldogs looked in the 13-12 win on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats last weekend, many thought that this could be a major alarm for the Bulldogs moving forward. To a stunning surprise, FanDuel Sportsbook posted that the Bulldogs are -2.5 point favorites on the road against the Alabama Crimson Tide next weekend.
Both Georgia and Alabama had a bye this week before the big game next weekend. The Alabama Crimson Tide won easily on the road against the Wisconsin Badgers in Week 3, 42-10. They are both 3-0 to start the college football season. This game between the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide will have huge playoff implications for later in the season.
Bulldogs Have Tough Schedule For The Remainder Of the 2024 Season
This will be the first of several tough games for Georgia in SEC Conference play this season. This is one of the toughest schedules they will ever have. If the Bulldogs are going to make the college football playoff, they can’t look how they did against the Kentucky Wildcats. Also, quarterback Carson Beck is going to have to play much better.
Beck and Jalen Milroe are two of the better quarterbacks in college football. Carson Beck is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. As for Milroe, he may not be the prospect Beck is, but he could be a candidate to win the Heisman Trophy Award this season.
This will be the first of several games the Georgia Bulldogs face tough quarterbacks. They will also face the Ole Miss Rebels, the Texas Longhorns, and the Tennessee Volunteers. Those teams are all ranked in the Top 6 in the nation. Georgia can’t afford to go 1-3 in those games. They could put themselves in danger of making the playoffs if they struggle against the Alabama Crimson Tide and others.
