Just recently, the Georgia Bulldogs faced and overcame the Clemson Tigers in a masterful performance after the first half. This prompted former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III to give his take on the former and what they’re doing right on the field.
Clemson faced a tough reality in their season opener, suffering a 34-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The game began competitively, with the Bulldogs leading only 6-0 at halftime, but Georgia dominated the second half, scoring 28 points to Clemson’s three. This marked the Tigers’ most significant defeat to Georgia since 1976, revealing a stark contrast between the two programs.
Head coach Dabo Swinney noted that playing against a top-tier team like Georgia exposed weaknesses in his squad. The loss was particularly concerning, as it was the worst opening game defeat under Swinney’s leadership, and it marked a troubling trend, with Clemson losing three of their last four season openers. Notably, this was only the fourth time during his tenure that the Tigers were held scoreless in a touchdown.
Clemson’s offense struggled, hampered by penalties and a lack of explosive plays. Quarterback Cade Klubnik highlighted the need for improvement and urged his teammates to remain resilient. Defensively, the Tigers allowed nine significant plays, showcasing uncharacteristic mistakes and missed tackles.
Former NFL Quarterback Robert Griffin III Raves About Georgia Bulldogs After Win Against Clemson Tigers
After the match, former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III dropped his review on Georgia based on their performance against the Tigers. This can be seen in a tweet he shared on his official X account.
“Georgia is just so damn DOMINANT STILL. Carson Beck is playing high level decision maker football and they just keep winning in the trenches. My GAWD,” Griffin tweeted.
Despite the setback, Swinney remained optimistic about the season’s potential. Clemson still has a chance to secure a place in the College Football Playoff by winning the ACC championship.
With their next game against Appalachian State on September 7, the Tigers have the opportunity to learn from this defeat and demonstrate significant improvements moving forward. In any case, Griffin’s take on the Bulldogs was just proven in how they dominated Clemson in their recent match. It remains to be seen whether Beck and company can continue their rampage to help the Bulldogs win the big one this season.
