The Georgia Bulldogs did not look its best despite beating the Kentucky Wildcats 13-12 on the road on Saturday night. Georgia dropped from the number one-ranked team in the country to the second-ranked team in the country.
Joel Klatt of FOX Sports was paying close attention to this game. The Bulldogs will be on a bye this week. After the bye week, Georgia will head on the road and face the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide. This is only the beginning of the difficult schedule for the Georgia Bulldogs.
Joel Klatt Makes Unbelievable Take About the Georgia Bulldogs After They Barely Escape On the Road Against the Kentucky Wildcats
Joel Klatt of FOX Sports went onto the Joel Klatt Show on Monday to discuss the Bulldogs barely escaping with a win on the road against the Kentucky Wildcats. Klatt seems to be a little bit concerned about Georgia moving forward after barely escaping on the road in a tough Kentucky environment by saying:
“I understand that we’ve seen this before. Again, maybe we can just pass this off and say, ‘Well, last year, they trailed by 11 at half to South Carolina. They were tied with Auburn with five minutes to go in the fourth. In 2022, they went to Missouri and they only won by four on the road.’ Like, maybe Georgia just does this?”
However, the Bulldogs may be able to get away with it this season, but they can’t afford to flirt with danger moving forward. Georgia missed the playoffs last season and even with a playoff expansion this season, the Georgia Bulldogs are no guarantee to make the college football playoffs and neither are the Kentucky Wildcats.
Georgia’s Brutal Schedule
It is no secret that the Bulldogs have a brutal schedule after the bye. Other than the Alabama Crimson Tide game, they will also face the 1 Texas Longhorns, the 5 Ole Miss Rebels, and the 6 Tennessee Volunteers. Joel Klatt also added that:
“Here’s the difference. Those years? Georgia wasn’t playing the schedule that they’re playing this year. So, all I’m going to say is – not that Georgia is bad or gettable or any of this. I’m just saying that, if Georgia plays like they did on Saturday again or two more times during the course of the season, they probably will get beat because they’ve got much tougher games than they did in those previous years.”
It is hard to believe with the way Georgia Bulldogs looked on Saturday night against the Kentucky Wildcats that they will beat all four of those brutal games on the schedule. Georgia could go 2-2 or 3-1 in that stretch. What the Bulldogs can’t do is go 0-4 or 1-3. That could very well knock them out of the college football playoff picture for the 2024 season.
